Shai Gilgeous-Alexander looked every bit like the NBA MVP on Wednesday night.
After a quiet performance in Game 1, Gilgeous-Alexander bounced back with 30 points and nine assists to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a crucial 122-113 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, tying the Western Conference Finals at 1-1.
Facing the possibility of falling into a dangerous 0-2 hole at home, Oklahoma City responded with the aggressive defense and relentless pressure that defined its season. The Thunder forced 21 Spurs turnovers and converted them into 27 points, completely changing the tone of the series.
Gilgeous-Alexander controlled the game offensively and delivered in key moments whenever San Antonio threatened to regain momentum. Alex Caruso added 17 points off the bench, while Jared McCain and Cason Wallace each scored 12 as Oklahoma City dominated bench scoring 57-25.
Chet Holmgren contributed 13 points and provided an important defensive presence inside for the Thunder.
San Antonio still received another outstanding performance from Victor Wembanyama, who finished with 21 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Stephon Castle led the Spurs in scoring with 25 points, while Devin Vassell added 22.
The game also featured injury concerns for both teams. Jalen Williams exited with hamstring discomfort, while rookie Dylan Harper left in the second half with a leg injury. Their status for Game 3 remains unclear.
The series now shifts to San Antonio for Friday’s Game 3, with momentum suddenly swinging back toward Oklahoma City after a statement response from the Thunder.
