Czech Republic national football team officially revealed its 29-player preliminary roster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday as preparations continue for the tournament in North America.

The announcement was made through the federation’s official social media channels with an emotional video featuring childhood photos shared by players’ family members.

Head coach Miroslav Koubek selected a balanced squad combining experienced internationals with emerging young talent.

Among the most notable names included are goalkeeper Matej Kovar, defender Vladimir Coufal, midfielder Tomas Soucek and forwards Adam Hlozek and Patrik Schick.

The squad also featured some high-profile omissions. Winger Vaclav Cerny was left out, along with veteran striker Matej Vydra, who previously built a lengthy career in the Premier League.

The Czech team will begin training camp in Prague on May 28 before playing a farewell friendly against Kosovo on May 31. The squad will then travel to the United States and face Guatemala in New Jersey as part of its final preparations.

Koubek must still cut three players before FIFA’s final roster deadline on June 1.

The Czech Republic was drawn into Group A alongside Mexico national football team, South Korea national football team and South Africa national football team.

The team will open its World Cup campaign against South Korea on June 12 before facing South Africa and Mexico later in the group stage.
