Aaron Rodgers is not ready to walk away from football just yet.

The veteran quarterback agreed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, extending his NFL career into the 2026 season and keeping alive the possibility of one final playoff run.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers’ contract could reach up to $25 million with incentives included.

The decision ends months of speculation surrounding the future of the four-time NFL MVP following Pittsburgh’s Wild Card loss to the Houston Texans.

One of the biggest storylines attached to Rodgers’ return is his reunion with head coach Mike McCarthy, the same coach who led him to a Super Bowl title during their successful run together with the Green Bay Packers.

Since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement in 2022, Pittsburgh has struggled to find long-term stability at quarterback. Rodgers’ return allows the franchise to remain competitive while also developing rookie Drew Allar, selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Although Rodgers is no longer posting MVP-level numbers, he still delivered a productive season last year, throwing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and just seven interceptions across 16 games.

Beyond the statistics, Rodgers’ presence instantly restored national attention and expectations around the Steelers franchise.

The veteran quarterback is also expected to participate in offseason team activities from the start, signaling a stronger commitment entering what could potentially become the final season of his Hall of Fame career.

For Pittsburgh, the mission is clear: maximize whatever elite football Aaron Rodgers still has left while chasing a deeper postseason run in the AFC.
