Las Águilas del América fully validated their regular-season leadership by claiming the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2026 championship with a emphatic 3-0 victory (3-1 on aggregate) over Rayadas de Monterrey. A packed Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, housing an official attendance of 26,650 spectators, witnessed the capital squad snap a tough streak of consecutive final defeats under Spanish manager Ángel Villacampa, securing the third league star in club history following their previous achievements in Apertura 2018 and Clausura 2023.

Tasked with overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg in Monterrey, the home side displayed an aggressive attacking strategy right from the opening whistle. In the 8th minute, the crowd exploded with joy when Montserrat Angelique Saldívar converted a header off a loose ball from goalkeeper Paola Manrique; however, referee Cesia Campos consulted the VAR and disallowed the goal due to a prior midfield foul.

Monterrey tried to regain balance and produced their best scoring opportunity in the 33rd minute when Costa Rican international Valeria Del Campo combined with Diana García to fire a low shot just wide of Sandra Paños’ right post. América responded via Brazilian striker Geyse Da Silva, who sent an individual effort over the crossbar.

The opening goal finally materialized in the 43rd minute when Irene Guerrero reacted quickest to a spilled ball by Manrique inside the six-yard box, blasting it home to make it 1-0 and level the aggregate score before the break.

The second half amplified Las Águilas’ supremacy as they stepped back onto the pitch with heightened intensity. In the 50th minute, Geyse Da Silva capitalized on another error from the visiting goalkeeper, pouncing on a dead ball inside the area to drive home the 2-0 lead, successfully executing the aggregate comeback. Facing the sudden setback, Rayadas manager Amandine Miquel looked to alter her tactical layout by bringing on Christina Burkenroad, Fátima Servín, and Spanish forward Lucía García to revitalize the attack.

Despite the substitutions, the dynamic of the match remained unchanged under the crisp possession control maintained by the home side. The final blow arrived in the 80th minute when captain Scarlett Camberos calmly stepped up to convert a penalty kick, drilling a low shot to the bottom-right corner to establish the final 3-0 scoreline.

With this performance, América successfully broke the regional dominance of Nuevo León’s powerhouses, solidifying their standing as the third most successful club in the history of the competition.
