Mexico national team head coach Rafael Marquez announced a 28-player roster on Thursday for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal series against Jamaica, marking his first official competitive fixture in charge of El Tri.
The roster includes notable inclusions and returnees across all positions. Croatia-based forward Armando Leon earned his first international call-up, while winger Alexis Vega, full-back Kevin Alvarez, midfielder Andres Montano, and defender Rodrigo Huescas returned to the national team picture. Conversely, several established European-based veterans, including Raul Jimenez, Edson Alvarez, and Luis Chavez, were omitted from the squad alongside Liga MX forward Henry Martin.
The 28-man group features 11 players currently competing in foreign leagues and 17 players from seven domestic Liga MX clubs. Chivas leads all clubs with five call-ups, followed by Club America with four, Cruz Azul with three, and Toluca with two.
El Tri will undergo a short training camp in the Riviera Maya to acclimate to Caribbean weather conditions before traveling to Kingston to face Jamaica at Independence Park in the first leg of the tie, where Marquez will seek his first official victory as national team manager.
