Barcelona Defeats Real Betis 3-1 as Raphinha Scores Twice and Lewandowski Says Goodbye

On a highly emotional night featuring Robert Lewandowski's final home appearance, the league champions sealed a clinical 3-1 win over Betis with a brace from Raphinha.

FC Barcelona reasserted their domestic supremacy by securing a 3-1 victory over Real Betis at the Spotify Camp Nou during Matchday 37 of LaLiga. The fixture, which served as the champions' final home appearance of the 2025-2026 campaign, delivered a spectacular footballing showcase under Hansi Flick alongside an emotionally charged atmosphere in the stands.

The home side established dominance early on, looking to control possession through offensive runs by Fermín López and Raphinha. Real Betis attempted to push back, though they saw an early effort from Abde Ezzalzouli chalked off by the referee due to an offside position. The deadlock was finally broken in the 28th minute via a set piece: Raphinha curled a precise direct free-kick from outside the box into the net, making it 1-0. For the visitors, Mexican midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo featured in the starting lineup, actively driving the play during the first 45 minutes before being substituted at halftime in a tactical adjustment.

The match opened up significantly in the second half. Barcelona’s clinical attacking frontline struck again in the 62nd minute when Raphinha completed his brace, collecting a deep pass and drilling a left-footed strike into the back of the net. Real Betis fought back and earned a lifeline in the 66th minute following a VAR review that penalized a foul by Gavi inside the box. Isco Alarcón calmly stepped up to the spot, converting the penalty in the 69th minute to narrow the gap to 2-1.

However, Barcelona secured the three points in the 74th minute through João Cancelo, who connected with a brilliant assist from Pedri to unleash a powerful right-footed strike, sealing the definitive 3-1 score. With this victory, Barcelona remains comfortably at the top of the table with 94 points, while Real Betis stays in fifth place with 57 points. 

Following the final whistle, the stadium erupted in a thunderous standing ovation and a special family tribute for Robert Lewandowski, who completed his final match at the iconic stadium.
